The Indiana Fever selected Caitlyn Clark as the No. 1 overall WNBA draft pick Monday night.

ATLANTA — It's official, Caitlin Clark, the decorated Iowa women's basketball player who helped catapult her school and the sport in the spotlight over the last few seasons is now a part of the WNBA.

The Indiana Fever selected the basketball standout as the No. 1 overall draft pick Monday night. The team celebrated her immediately on social media, welcoming the "generational" phenomenon to her new home.

The former Iowa star became a household name among basketball fans during her record-breaking college career. The Fever taking Clark had been a foregone conclusion since she announced in February that she would turn pro.

The news means we now know when Clark is set to make the trip to Georgia with her team to play against the Atlanta Dream.

The Dream is set to take on the Indiana Fever on June 21 at the Gateway Center Arena in College Park. However, the two teams will also face each other in Indianapolis the week before -- on June 13.

The Atlanta Dream was also included in the first-round draft order with the No. 12 pick. The Dream selected Nyadiew Puoch, of Australia.

The 19-year-old got emotional as she talked about her mother draft night.
