Major exit shift on Georgia 400 southbound now in effect

All changes went live at 5 a.m. and according to GDOT, with this final adjustment, the exit's reach extends beyond MARTA, catering to various destinations.

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. — Heads up, drivers! Georgia Department of Transportation has changed an exit on Georgia 400 southbound as of Tuesday morning.

What drivers need to watch out for is where the exit is. The Abernathy Road exit, which underwent relocation a couple of years ago, has now shifted a full mile sooner for southbound travelers. As Spalding Drive approaches, commuters should be vigilant for the updated exit, offering access to the North Springs MARTA station, Hammond Drive, and Abernathy Road.

For those acquainted with the region, the updated exit at 5C North Springs MARTA, just before Spalding Drive, replaces the previous exit point and provides a route to Abernathy Road, Hammond Drive, and the North Springs MARTA station.

All changes went live at 5 a.m. and according to GDOT, with this final adjustment, the exit's reach extends beyond MARTA, catering to various destinations.

This revamped exit not only facilitates smoother transitions but also introduces additional lanes parallel to Georgia 400. These "collector-distributor" lanes serve to separate local traffic from those with longer distances to cover.
