NORCROSS, Ga. — Crew are working to locate a gas leak near Buford Highway and Beaver Ruin Road in Norcross.

Norcross Police shared on Facebook that this has caused lane closures in the area.

"Only one lane will be open going southbound on Buford Hwy/Beaver Ruin Rd to include the two left turn lanes to go onto Beaver Ruin Rd. On Beaver Ruin Rd the right turn lane to go North on Beaver Ruin is closed," police said.

A Georgia Department of Transportation traffic camera showed Wednesday evening traffic cones in the roadway.

Norcross Police said it could take a couple of days for crews to locate the exact location of the leak and repair the problem. 11Alive reached out to Atlanta Gas Light to check on the status of the work.

It said its crews were already on site trying to locate the incident; they would start on repairs once they do. A spokesperson added that the cause of the cut line is unknown at the time, but it appears to have been caused by a contractor unrelated to Atlanta Gas Light who was doing work in the area.

"There are traffic control personnel assisting with the traffic through that area while our crews work," the Atlanta Gas Light spokesperson added.

Drivers in the area may want to use an alternate route for the time being.
