Motorcycle driver found dead after crash on I-285 in DeKalb County

The DeKalb County Police Department said it responded to a crash at 2:20 p.m. and found the driver of a motorcycle dead at the scene.

ATLANTA — A motorcycle driver was found dead at the scene of a crash on Sunday afternoon, according to the DeKalb County Police Department. 

The police department said that at 2:20 p.m., officers responded to I-285 eastbound before I-85 regarding a vehicle accident. Upon arrival, officers found a motorcycle and a car that was involved in a crash. Preliminary information revealed that the driver of the motorcycle was thrown from the vehicle and was dead at the scene, police said. 

The police department said that the traffic on I-285 eastbound would be completely shut down pending the completion of the investigation. 

As of 4 p.m., lanes look to be back open, according to a Georgia Department of Transportation traffic camera. 

The police department said that those involved remained on the scene and that no arrests were made. This is an ongoing investigation.
