SPALDING COUNTY, Ga. — Spalding County officials said a bridge along Jordan Hill Road will be closed for weeks due to structural damage it received earlier this week during stormy weather.

In a news release from the county, it said the Georgia Department of Transportation confirmed Friday that the closure was necessary. The bridge sits between 1910 Jordan Hill Road and 2651 Jordan Hill Road -- which is north of Tearmon Road.

The structural damage was caused by high water levels on Jan. 9. Officials anticipate that the bridge could be closed for four to six week. This will allow crews to make repairs.

A detour route has been set up. Starting from Teamon Road, drivers can head either to SR 155 or to North Pomona Road. This route will lead to Boynton Road and subsequently connect drivers to Jordan Hill Road/Rocky Creek Road.
