Air Canada resumes nonstop flights at Atlanta airport

Airport leaders held a flight ceremony celebrating the route.

ATLANTA — An international airline is bringing back its nonstop flights to the world's busiest airport.

Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport welcomed back Air Canada Wednesday. The airline is resuming its nonstop service between Atlanta and Montreal, officials said in a news release.

Airport leaders held a flight ceremony Wednesday to mark the occasion adding the two cities hold "deep and strong" connections.

Air Canada is Canada's largest domestic and international airline, and a popular choice to bring travelers to its neighbor, the United States. The airline serves more than 210 airports on six continents and helps more than 50 million travelers make it to their destination every year.

Airport leaders said there will now be six daily flights between Atlanta and Montreal, adding that it will help expand economic horizons, especially for the 367 Canadian-owned businesses in Georgia.

Over the course of the coronavirus pandemic, Air Canada limited its service to several locations. It is reintroducing services to summer destinations such as the Dominican Republic and Cuba after suspending flights earlier this year, according to local reports.

Though the airline is bringing flights back, travelers do have to follow COVID-19 testing and quarantine protocols if they have plans to travel to Canada. Those policies can and terms can be found on their national website.
