This airline is now offering a direct flight from Atlanta to Connecticut

There's a new way to get to the northeast.

ATLANTA — Direct flights can feel like a dream for those traveling from the South to the Northeast, and now there's a new option flying through the clouds.

Avelo Airlines took off on its first direct flight from Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport to Connecticut on Thursday. The inaugural flight landed at Tweed-New Haven Airport in south Connecticut with full seats and fanfare.

Boasting one of the only direct flights from Atlanta to southern Connecticut, Avelo Airlines has scheduled this nonstop route to operate four times weekly on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. One-way fairs start as low as $88, according to the airline.

Be prepared to see Yale University students and alumni on the flight, as it is now one of the most direct options to Connecticut's second-largest city, New Haven.

Celebrating three years, a spokesperson with Avelo Airlines said this new direct flight further emphasizes it as "America's most convenient airline."

According to a news release, Avelo Airlines customers can always change or cancel their itineraries with no extra fees. Families traveling with children 13 years old or younger will automatically be seated with an accompanying adult at no extra cost, airline policy states.

Avelo currently serves "52 popular destinations across the United States," according to its website.  Click here to explore flight options on its website.
