Discussion:
Partly to mostly cloudy skies to start the day. Clouds will break up this afternoon and we will see partly to mostly sunny skies. Temperatures are very mild this morning. We are starting in the 70s. Highs will be in the upper 80s.
Much of the day will be dry. There is a 20 to 30% chance for an isolated shower.
Rain chances improve late tonight as a cold front approaches from the northwest. A more organized cluster of storms will move in after midnight and linger through Thursday morning.
The Storms will fall about a bit as they move south toward the Atlanta metro area between 3 and 4am.
The Storm Prediction Center has placed a Slight Risk (level 2) threat for severe thunderstorms, follow by a Marginal Risk for the Metro area.
The storms could produce heavy rain, frequent lightning, gust winds and hail. The tornado thread is low, but we can not rule out a brief tornado.
Rain clears out Friday behind the passing cold front, and cooler, drier air will quickly move in behind it.
Highs fall into the 70s for the weekend, and a little morning chill returns with lows in the 50s.
