ATLANTA — Strong gusty winds continue throughout Thursday as a series of cold fronts continue to push across north Georgia.

This comes on the heels of Wednesday night's strong winds, brought in to the area behind rainfall by a 'wake low'.

A Wind Advisory remains in effect until 8 p.m. for the entire north Georgia area. This includes the city of Atlanta, Fulton county, and the rest of the Atlanta metro area. Winds this afternoon will be sustained around 15 to 20 miles per hour. Gusts up to 35 miles per hour will be possible.

Even though the advisory is not in effect for Friday, we also expect strong gusty winds for the afternoon tomorrow as well. Peak Gusts Friday afternoon could be closer to 40 miles per hour in the north Georgia mountains.

With soggy ground after recent rains, the strong gusty winds could cause more isolated trees to down by the root system and lead to a few power outages.
