Royal Wedding cellist to join Atlanta Symphony for performances next April

Atlanta Symphony Orchestra season subscriptions are available now. Individual concert tickets for next April's Elgar Cello Concerto at 100 performances go on sale in August.

ATLANTA -- Sheku Kanneh-Mason, the phenomenal cello player invited to play during the Royal Wedding over the weekend will be coming to Atlanta early next year to play with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.

Kanneh-Mason will join the ASO for their Elgar Cello Concerto at 100 performances on Thursday, April 25, 2019 and Saturday, April 27, 2019.

With a stunning performance of the Shostakovich Cello Concerto at London's Barbican Hall with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Kanneh-Mason is the 2016 BBC Young Musician.

At the age of 18, his international career is moving very quickly, with a number of engagements piling up, including the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the Philharmonia Orchestra at the Newbury Spring Festival, a return to the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra, Barcelona Symphony, Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, his debut North American concerto with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, the Louisiana Philharmonic and the Seattle and Atlanta symphonies.

He has an exclusive recording contract with Decca Classics and his first concerto recording for the label will be released later this year. In September 2017, he started a full-time degree course at the Royal Academy, studying with Hannah Roberts.

Kanneh-Mason plays an Antonius and Hieronymus Amati cello c. 1610 kindly on loan from a private collection.

Atlanta Symphony Orchestra 2018-2019 season subscriptions are available now at the Orchestra's website, while individual concert tickets will go on sale in August.
