East Point crews respond to 2 house fires hours apart

The first fire started at a home off Dodson Drive. The next morning, another fire was seen coming from a home off Ben Hill Road.

EAST POINT, Ga. — East Point firefighters put out two house fires that broke out Sunday night and Monday morning.

Firefighters arrived at the first house fire Sunday just after 10 p.m. at Dodson Drive. Several crews battled a large fire coming through the roof of a two-story brick home.

College Park firefighters were called to help with the blaze, which took just under two hours to put out, according to a news release from the East Point Fire Department.

The second fire started at a two-story home just after 7 a.m. off Ben Hill Road. The fire took around an hour to put out. No one was hurt during the fire and no one was found in the home, according to the release. 

The home’s roof and second floor took significant damage, but it is not known if the home was a total loss.

Currently, the cause of the fire is not known. Both fires are being investigated, according to the release.
