Metro Atlanta mentor, mentee perform in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

Big Brother Karl and Little Brother Kene in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America mentorship program performed in Thursday's parade.

NEW YORK — As Georgia families gather around the table and television early Thursday morning to enjoy the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade and feasts full of thanks, they might see locals representing metro Atlanta on the Singing Christmas Tree float

Big Brother Karl and Little Brother Kene in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America mentorship program performed in Thursday's parade. The pair joined 29 other mentorship matches while their families cheered them on the in the Big Apple. 

The Gwinnett County pair has been matched with each other for the past four years. Karl has been a big for 19 years and has three little brothers in the program. 

The mentorship matches joined some Macy's colleagues for the famous Singing Christmas Tree float. Each year, the choir sings an original holiday carol.

Little Brother Kene was selected to be in the parade for his musical abilities. Kene plays several different instruments and wants to be a music producer one day, according to the organization.
