WINDER, GA. - Authorities confirm a 16-year-old boy has been charged with murdering his 16-year-old girlfriend in Barrow County.
County deputies arrived at the boy's home around 1:30 p.m. Thursday, in the 400 block of East Midland Avenue, after getting a 911 call about a deceased person. It wasn't until they began heading to the scene that they learned it was a possible murder.
And it wasn't until they arrived that they learned the disturbing details.

Investigators believe on Wednesday, the boyfriend and girlfriend were in his bedroom and got into an argument, and that he killed her, possibly using a knife. The Sheriff says the boy remained with the body all night and into Thursday afternoon.
Around 1 p.m. Thursday, his mother's boyfriend came to the home and saw the boy with the body. The Sheriff says the boy told the mother's boyfriend what had happened. Then the boy ran away..
It was the mother's boyfriend who called 911, and then called the boy's mother. Deputies found the boy a short time later and arrested him.
Investigators got a search warrant, and Friday afternoon searched the home for possible evidence.
Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith said the teen now charged in the death is being held in a youth detention center in Gainesville, but when he turns 17 next month he will be transferred to the Barrow County jail and prosecuted as an adult.
Sheriff Smith said he is aware of people on social media claiming they know what is behind all of this, but said he will not speculate on the motive.
“It’s tragic," he said. "Just a tragic event.”
The Sheriff said the boy's family has hired an attorney.
