21-year-old pedestrian struck, killed as he 'darted out in traffic' on I-85, police say

The man killed was identified as homeless with a prior criminal history, according to the report.

DULUTH, Ga. — Gwinnett Police said a 21-year-old pedestrian was killed Wednesday just before 10 p.m. after he "darted out in traffic."

Investigators are trying to figure out why Justice Babb went on Interstate 85 in the path of a Nissan Versa near Pleasant Hill Road.

According to the police report, Babb was identified as homeless with a prior criminal history.

GCPD officers and the Gwinnett County Fire Department arrived on scene and located a deceased man lying in the roadway. Several lanes were immediately shut down to conduct an on-scene investigation.

It is not clear if this collision was accidental or if Babb’s intent was suicide, police said. Notification was made to his parents.
