Cops probe fatal shooting, stabbing incident in Paulding County

Details about what led to killing not yet known

DALLAS, Ga. — An early morning incident at a Paulding County home has left one man dead and a second man injured.

Paulding County deputies say the incident happened just before 4 a.m., Sunday at a home on Mill Lane in Dallas.

According to Sgt. Ashley Henson with the Paulding County Sheriff's Department, deputies responding to the scene saw a car leaving the subdivision on Georgia 120 run a red light.

"Not knowing if the car was involved in the shooting, or if it was a drunk driver, he attempted to pull the car over," Henson said.

"Once the vehicle finally stopped in the entranceway of the Walmart (across from the subdivision on Georgia 120), he encountered a male that was bleeding profusely, who actually fell out of the vehicle," Henson said.

Henson said the driver was suffering a stab wound that was later determined to have happened at the Mill Lane home.

The stabbing victim was taken to an Atlanta hospital in very serious condition.

"Right now, we don't know why the altercation took place," Henson said. "But at some point, there was an altercation where that individual was stabbed. He is in very serious condition at an Atlanta hospital. The other male here is deceased, was shot."

So far, no names have been released. Deputies say neither man resided at the Mill Lane home.

This is a developing story. We will provide more updates as they become available.
