East Cobb shooting spurred by contractor dispute, police say

The conditions of the two victims haven't been released.

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Two people have been shot and one more taken into custody in East Cobb, police said Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities confirmed the shooting happened on Wellington Lane off of Johnson Ferry Road. Cobb police spokesperson Sgt. Wayne Delk said that he wasn't aware of the victims' conditions.

Another police spokesperson on the scene said they first responded to the scene on reports of a person shot but found two when they arrived.

Police initially said two people were taken into custody but later clarified that one was speaking with them only as a witness. SWAT officers were also in the area but have since pulled back after the arrest.

"So there is no ongoing threat to anyone in the neighborhood and it was an isolated incident and the scene is right now safe," Officer Neil Penirelli said.

Police believe the shooting was tied to a home contractor dispute though they haven't said whether the people who were shot were actually involved.
