Man arrested in deadly stabbing near Centennial Olympic Park, police say

ATLANTA — A suspect is now in custody and charged with murder in the death of a man who was stabbed to death near Centennial Olympic Park in September, police said.

Fairburn Police arrested 41-year-old Ricardo Gayle during a traffic stop on Saturday. He is now charged in the death of 31-year-old Tracy Cole.

Cole was stabbed to death just after 2 a.m. on Sept. 14 at 325 Centennial Olympic Park Drive NW, according to Atlanta Police.

He was the grandson of Freddy Cole, one of Nat King Cole’s three brothers, according to the Associated Press. The pioneering jazz star died in 1965. Freddy Cole was also a famous jazz singer and pianist inducted into the Georgia Hall of Fame.

Police confirmed the victim and suspect knew each other.

Gayle was booked into the Fulton County Jail. He faces charges of murder, aggravated assault, armed robbery, hindering persons making emergency telephone call and possession of a knife or firearm during the commission of a felony.
