Tracey Watson with the Georgia Department of Safety said the trooper was helping with traffic control while a company was sweeping the interstate. The trooper's patrol car was in the far right lane with the blue emergency lights on when the Jeep hit the trooper's patrol car from behind. After impact, officials said the front of the Jeep hit the concrete barrier wall.

The 25-year-old driver, Davianna Gray of Covington, was taken to Grady Medical Center and was charged with a DUI. Three passengers in the car were taken to Grady Medical Center.

The trooper didn't suffer any life threatening injuries, but he was taken to Atlanta Medical Center.
