Mom wanted for vaccine fact finding mission to tropical island

We are looking for a mom who is on the fence about whether to vaccinate her kids and is willing to look at both sides of the growing debate.

ATLANTA — Few subjects elicit stronger opinions than child vaccinations. It crosses political party lines, income and ethnicity. When emotions run high, it’s difficult for anyone to put their biases aside and listen.

11Alive News wants to hear you out - more specifically, an anti-vaxxer mom who has chosen not to vaccinate her child.

With grant assistance from the Solutions Journalism Network, 11Alive News wants to take a metro Atlanta mother on a fact-finding journey to learn more about vaccinations and infectious diseases from real medical experts and researchers.

The selected mother will have an opportunity to ask the questions and help report the story. The intent of the story is to arm mothers with facts from credible sources to help them make the right choices for their families.

The biggest part of the trip includes traveling to a tropical island in the Polynesian region of the Pacific Ocean to witness a real-life case study. This mom must be available to travel in early June for about five days.

She’ll be accompanied by national award-winning Reveal reporter Andy Pierrotti and a film crew. Airfare and accommodations will be paid for by 11Alive News.

If you’re interested, please complete this survey as soon as possible. 11Alive News will make its selection at the end of March.
