This is a developing story.

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — A 10th-grader has died following a shooting and stabbing incident on the campus of a high school in East Point following a basketball game Friday night, school officials said in a letter to parents Saturday.

One person was shot and one person was stabbed Friday night following a high school basketball game at Tri-Cities High School. Both students were critically injured during the incidents.

A spokesperson with the high school said the student who passed away was identified as Mario Bailey. School officials did not say whether Bailey was a victim in the shooting or the stabbing incident that took place around the same time Friday night.

"Mario will be deeply missed," the school said in a letter sent to parents on Saturday. "Please know that we are taking steps to increase safety personnel and resources including our Evolv concealed weapons detection system and additional Fulton County Schools Police Officers.

The altercation happened following a game between Tri-Cities and Banneker High School. East Point Police said they heard gunshots in the area and found that a person was shot as people were exiting the high school following the game.

It's unsure at this time if the shooting and stabbing are connected, police said.

Mental health counselors are available for students at Tri-Cities High School.
