5-year-old who died after being hit by vehicle in DeKalb County identified

The DeKalb County Medical Examiner's Office identified the 5-year-old boy as Kaden Jackson on Thursday.

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A 5-year-old boy died Wednesday after being rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after being hit by a vehicle on Tuesday night at a DeKalb County apartment complex, police said.

The DeKalb County Medical Examiner's Office identified the 5-year-old boy as Kaden Jackson on Thursday. 

Police stated that the child passed away from his injuries on Wednesday.

According to the DeKalb County Police Department, officers responded to 2051 Flat Shoals Road -- the location of Highlands at East Atlanta apartment complex in Atlanta -- shortly before 8:40 p.m. in reference to a person struck by a vehicle. 

When they arrived, they found a 5-year-old with serious head trauma. He was sent to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, police stated.

The vehicle involved remained at the scene, and the driver is cooperating with the officers, according to the police.
