Man fatally shot in southwest Atlanta was likely targeted, police say, but motive unknown

Neighbors said they heard multiple gunshots

ATLANTA — Police believe a man shot multiple times along Fennel Way in southwest Atlanta was likely targeted. 

At around 8:45 a.m., officers responded to 407 Fennel Way in reference to a person down. A black man, likely in his late 30s, was found deceased with multiple gunshot wounds. 

Investigators were on scene much of the morning and are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. 

Police believe he was walking down the street when he got shot and ran to a nearby home to get help. That's where they found him.

They said the victim lives in the area and that they are trying to figure out more about the him to figure out who he is and who he may have been associated with.

The investigation is ongoing.
