Tow truck driver killed in I-575 crash

The tow truck driver was described as a pedestrian when he was struck by a vehicle.

CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. — A tow truck driver was killed Thursday when he was struck along I-575 in Cherokee County.

Woodstock Police said a man was struck in a fatal traffic accident and identified the person as a tow truck driver. It was not initially clear if the tow truck driver was hit while attending to another car, but police classified him as a pedestrian, indicating he would've been outside his truck.

Authorities later identified the man as 48-year-old Frank Ingram, of Woodstock.

All lanes were closed for a time on I-575 South, but reopened a little after 3:30 p.m., Woodstock Police reported.

The Georgia Department of Transportation's 511 site indicated it happened just past the Little River.
