Truck crashes through divider on I-85 by Buford-Spring Connector

At least two other cars appeared to be involved.

ATLANTA — UPDATE: Lanes were cleared in the mid-morning and traffic flow resumed. It appears some repairs are still ongoing with the divider, though no lanes are blocked.

Original story below

A truck appeared to crash through a divider on I-85 by the Buford-Spring Connector north of Midtown Atlanta early Tuesday morning, impacting both the northbound and southbound traffic.

The 11Alive SkyTracker flew over the scene, which showed two other cars involved in the crash.

Rescue crews could be seen at one point working to get one injured individual down from the side of the overturned truck. That individual was eventually lowered down and loaded into an ambulance.

The incident was impacting both the far left lanes of I-85 North, where the crash appeared to originate, and the far left HOV lane/shoulder of of I-85 South in the area.

The incident was causing northbound backup into Midtown on the Downtown Connector, on I-85 South as far back as North Druid Hills Road, and on GA-400 South before it meets I-85 as well.

In a statement, Georgia State Patrol said the collision occurred when the truck was cut off, swerved to avoid a crash and overturned, "traveling across all lanes of I-85, striking 4 other vehicles that were traveling northbound." The truck then crashed into the median wall.
