DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is looking into an incident from earlier this week where a man was shot and injured by a Douglas County Sheriff's Office deputy.

This happened Sunday just before 1 a.m. following a chase.

GBI officials state that deputies initially tried to stop the man for speeding on Interstate 20.

However, they add that the driver, 36-year-old man, refused to stop, leading to the chase. He eventually lost control of his SUV, causing it to flip

As deputies approached the crashed vehicle, the GBI said the man "made a motion with his hands and was shot once by a deputy."

The man was eventually taken to a hospital to be treated for his injuries.

At this time, there is no further information in the investigation.
