Forsyth County community rallies around family in need

Dozens of people in the Glencree community of Suwanee are showing support for a local family whose teenage boy is fighting for his life.

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — Less than a week after receiving his high school diploma, Holden Ludwig was critically injured in a car accident. The teen is now in intensive care at a local hospital, but family friends say he’s making progress.

“On Monday, they gave Holden the command to give us a thumbs up, and he did that,” said family friend Jennifer Davis. “I still have chills when I say that. That was huge, because it told all of us that our prayers are working and that he's in there.”

She says Holden’s parents have been taking shifts by his side in the hospital, only occasionally traveling home to rest.

“One day I was leaving the neighborhood, and I thought ‘you know it would be nice to have some sign of solidarity for them when they come in and out of the neighborhood,’” Mary Francine said. “So I texted Jennifer and asked her what she thought about putting a ribbon on our mailboxes, just so when they come and go they can kind of know that we're behind them.”

Along with their families, Francine and Davis distributed 175 plastic bags throughout the Glencree community where Holden and his family live. Each bag is filled with a note detailing the accident and a blue ribbon.

“We chose that because his mom, every time she would post on Facebook, she would use a blue heart,” Francine said referencing Trisha Ludwig’s recent updates about Holden. “So we just chose a blue ribbon so everybody can tie it on their mailboxes.”

It’s just one of many ways the local community is stepping in to help, but Davis says the biggest request is for continued prayer.

“ We really appreciate all the prayers that we've gotten and all the donations,” she said. “We know the prayer is working, so just keep it.”

A meal train has also been setup to assist the family. For more information, CLICK HERE.
