Tri-Cities gets 'off-the-chain' new dog park

Hapeville Parks and Recreation confirms news of park’s completion

HAPEVILLE, Ga. — If you’re a dog owner in the Tri-Cities area, you’re probably already keenly aware that it’s a challenge to find a place for your four-legged friend to run free.  While there are several community fantastic community parks in East Point alone, lease laws make it hard for dogs to enjoy themselves when they’re outside.

Until recently, the closest dog park was South Bend Dog Park located over on Lakewood Ave, just stone’s throw away from the Screen Gems production studio.

That’s all about to change, thanks to the city of Hapeville. My East Point News spoke with a few staff members from the city’s Parks & Recreation Department who confirmed the news. The nearly completed park will contain two sections - one for larger dogs and another for small ones. The new dog park will be at Master Park located at 488 King Arnold Street in Hapeville.

According to an artist’s rendering, there will also be water fountains, tubes for the larger dogs and of course, plenty of shade. According to the staff, the park will be completed and open to the public within the next few weeks. Providing us dog-owners in the Tri-Cities with a place to enjoy the remaining ‘dog days’ of summer. For more information and updates on the status of the park, visit the city of Hapeville’s website
