State inmate injured while working on expansion project at Coweta County Jail, officials say

The inmate was alert before being sent to the hospital, according to a county spokesperson.

COWETA COUNTY, Ga. — A state inmate was injured while working on a construction project at the Coweta County jail, a government spokesperson said. 

Officials said that at 1 p.m., the inmate was working at the Coweta County Sheriff's Office Jail Expansion Project when he was hurt after his lower right leg was pinned between a skid steer and a paver. 

Coweta County Fire Rescue responded and sent the inmate to the hospital. He was alert and conscious before they sent him to get treated for his injuries.
