First Lady Jill Biden, VP Kamala Harris to visit Georgia this week

Biden and Harris are visiting the Peach State to discuss women's health and reproductive rights.

GEORGIA, USA — Vice President Kamala Harris and First Lady Jill Biden are set to visit the Peach State this week, according to White House officials.

Biden will speak at the Morehouse School of Medicine’s 2024 Heart Healthy Luncheon at the Georgia Aquarium on Wednesday. This comes as part of the White House Women’s Health Research initiative to “accelerate progress on women’s health.”

The First Lady’s latest visit comes after her appearance at Emory University in September, where she highlighted and reinforced the president’s national commitment to fight cancer.

During September’s visit, she shared her own personal story with the disease after losing her son, Beau Biden, to brain cancer in the fight “to end cancer as we know it.”

Vice President Harris is also heading to Savannah on Tuesday to continue her “Fight for Reproductive Freedoms” tour.

The Vice President’s nationwide tour kicked off last week in Waukesha County, Wisconsin and continued on Monday in California. This will be her third stop in the tour and the Vice President plans to highlight the Biden Administration’s concerns about Georgia’s six-week ban on abortion — which went into effect shortly after Roe v. Wade was overturned in June 2022.

This will be Vice President Harris’ 11th trip to Georgia since being sworn in and her second trip in the Peach State 2024.

Last month, she visited The Gathering Spot to speak with community leaders about protecting voting rights.
