GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. — Three Georgia women were killed after a crash on Interstate 85 in Greenville County, South Carolina, on Friday, according to a WYFF report

Greenville County Deputy Coroner Mike Ellis told WYFF that an SUV with the three women was traveling north on the interstate at Staunton Bridge Road around noon at a speed above the limit.

Ellis said as they were traveling, their SUV left the road and ran up the embankment through some trees, plowing into a cement bridge near the area, according to WYFF.

"Right now, it appears the vehicle is on its wheels, but when the vehicle jumped all four lanes of traffic. It probably struck trees at least 20 feet above the ground," he told WYFF. "The car is in multiple different pieces."

Another person was hurt and taken to hospital, but Ellis told WYFF that they were not sure about that person's condition. He believes only one car was involved in the deadly incident, WYFF's report stated.

"When you have three deceased, it's nothing that you ever want to see," Ellis said in the report.

The report added that some family members of the victims were alerted by the vehicle's detection system when the crash happened. Ellis also told WYFF that the family then notified people they knew in South Carolina.

The identities of the women have not yet been released by authorities.
