Magnitude 2.0 earthquake shakes north Georgia country

GEORGIA, USA — The United States Geological Survey confirmed an earthquake struck in Whitfield County late Tuesday afternoon.

The quake struck at 4:11 p.m. at a depth of about 10 miles. The earthquake registered at a magnitude of 2.0, about 2 miles south of Varnell. 

Officials updated the information just after 8:00 a.m.
