Multiple traffic flash points around Atlanta, including major backup on GA-400

The big traffic incident of the morning was said to be caused by a car fire.

ATLANTA — A car fire has resulted in big backup on GA-400 North this morning, with traffic backed up as far south as Sandy Springs.

The incident occurred near Northridge Road, and was blocking three of four lanes on the freeway.

That was just one of multiple incidents causing big traffic headaches around the metro this morning, with more rain leading to wet roads.

I-85 South has seen some backup as well, after a wreck near Indian Trail-Lilburn Road. That incident was only affecting a shoulder lane, but cars slowing down at the scene is having a domino effect with slow goings all the way back to Hwy. 316.

And a wreck was slowing things down on the West Expressway along I-20 East as well. That occurred just before I-285 and had things gummed up as far back as Riverside Parkway.
