ATLANTA — The Friday traffic rush is already facing snags after multiple lanes of Interstate 85 South were shut near Clairmont Road over reports of a car fire.

According to information from the Georgia Department of Transportation, four right lanes remain blocked on I-85 South, just before the Clairmont Road exit -- exit 91. Right now, two left lanes are open for through traffic, but video from traffic cameras shows cars at a virtual standstill.

According to DeKalb County fire officials, they got the call for the fire just before noon. No one was inside the car, described as a black Range Rover sport, and no one was hurt. Crews are now working to put out the fire.

Drivers are being encouraged to avoid the area to avoid delays. GDOT recommended using SR-13/Buford Highway or SR-141/Peachtree Industrial as alternate routes. Drivers can also use the Shallowford Road exit and take the I-85 frontage road to avoid the Interstate.
