ATLANTA — A man was hit and killed by a car on Friday, prompting the College Park Police Department to close roads in the area.

According to the police department, a call was made around 3 a.m. stating a person was hit by a car near Camp Creek Parkway and Airport Drive.

When officers arrived at the intersection, a man was found dead lying on his back in the road. Police said the injuries were consistent with being hit by a car.

Officers added that the driver of the car who allegedly hit the man left the scene but returned and was cooperative with the investigation. No charges were mentioned in this deadly incident, and police have not released the name of the man who died.

Lanes were shut down for a while at that intersection as police continued their investigation, but lanes are open now, according to Georgia Department of Transportation cameras in the area.
