Discussion:
We had strong storms move through north Georgia this morning, but now much of those stronger storms have shifted to the south.
A Tornado Watch is still in place until 3 p.m. for Upson County. This is the only severe watch for our region.
We are expecting a break from the rain much of this afternoon with quieter conditions much of this evening as well, but another round of storms will be possible tomorrow morning for Atlanta, south toward the Macon region.
Storms tomorrow morning won't be much of a threat for north Georgia, but some damaging wind will be possible in a storm or two southeast of Atlanta. We have a marginal risk for severe weather (level one out of five) because of this.
The timing for the storms shows them approaching north Georgia around 6 a.m. from the west and hitting the Atlanta metro around 8:30 p.m., before moving out of the region around 10 a.m.
Drier conditions move in for Friday afternoon with temperatures rising into the upper 70s.
Temperatures fall to the 50s for lows and 70s for highs from Saturday through Monday under a mostly sunny to partly cloudy sky each day. This will make for great conditions arriving in time for Mother's Day.
Scattered showers will return back to the forecast on Tuesday and Wednesday with lows in the 60s and highs in the 70s to 80s.
