Authorities said 32-year-old Antonio May of Macon, Georgia was arrested on Tuesday and taken to the Fulton County jail where he fought with staff and refused direct orders. During the confrontation, May was tased and pepper sprayed after which the staff was able to regain control of him.

Based on the preliminary findings from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, he was "decontaminated" due to the use of pepper spray but soon became unresponsive.

Jail and medical staff then performed CPR. Grady Emergency Medical Services personnel and Atlanta Fire first responders were also sent to the scene to try and save May's life but he ultimately died at the jail.

GBI investigators are looking into the death of Antonio May, who died while in custody in Fulton County.

That led the Fulton County Sheriff's Office to call in the GBI as an outside investigator.

May was arrested for criminal trespass and a warrant out of another county.

11Alive is working to get details on the specifics of that warrant.
