CUMMING, Ga. — The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office wrote on their Facebook page over the weekend that they had 'received several messages of concern' regarding what extra measures they are taking at the jail in response to COVID-19.
The agency writing that "in an effort to keep our FCSO Jail Staff, our inmates, and the public safe we have implemented the following procedures to keep the Detention Center virus-free."
The department then listed the following procedures:
- All Inmate programs and visitation has been stopped. Inmates are allowed access to e-postcards and phones to communicate with their families (currently they are allowed two free emails a week and a free phone call). We have also ordered board games and are giving extra free time.
- Limiting Sheriff’s Office personnel from coming into the building.
- All individuals being brought to Intake are screened prior to entering and our Medical Staff may refuse if there is cause.
- We now have only one entrance, and all employees, contractors, Bondsman, and other essential visitors have to be medically screened.
- All inmates in custody at this time have had their temperature taken and we found no fevers.
- Our full-time medical staff is closely monitoring the health of all inmates.
- We have a separate housing area for new inmates that will be monitored for 14 days before being moved to General Population.
- We are limiting all movement through the facility.
- We have added more cleaning crews to cover 24-hour sanitation.
