Online fundraiser created after teen killed in Walmart shooting

Fayetteville Police Department said the shooting happened around 10 p.m. Friday. A 9-year-old was also injured.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. — A grieving family created an online fundraiser after a teen was killed in a Walmart shooting in Fayetteville last week.

The fundraising campaign described Antavius Holton as a "beloved 19-year-old son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend."

Fayetteville Police Department said the shooting happened around 10 p.m. Friday, March 29, at the Walmart in the Fayette Pavilion shopping center. Officers said they received a “shots fired” call, and when police arrived about one minute later, the suspect had already fled the scene in a vehicle. That vehicle was located and was abandoned.

As of Monday, police are still searching for the suspect, 19-year-old Adrian Jelks, a Walmart employee.

Jelks is wanted for murder and aggravated assault in connection to the shooting that killed 19-year-old Holton and injured a 9-year-old girl.

"Antavius Holton was loved in the city of Riverdale and had a fashion clothing line which he loved. Please help us bury him and have peace, donate anything you can," the online fundraiser states

Police said they are actively working leads. They also previously said they have a 19-year-old woman in custody being "transported to the Fayette County Jail, pending warrants for party to a crime for the offenses of murder and aggravated assault."

Walmart provided a statement on Saturday:

"We're heartbroken by what happened in our Fayetteville store Friday night and extend our sympathies to the loved ones of those involved. We are working with law enforcement to assist them in any way we can as they investigate."
