Person trespassing killed after being hit by train in Buckhead, officials say

Here is what we know.

ATLANTA — One person is dead Saturday evening after they were struck by a train and killed in Buckhead, according to officials with Norfolk Southern.

An official with the railroad company said that the person killed, later identified as 32-year-old Brett H. Barlow, was trespassing on the tracks in the area of East Paces Ferry Road NE and Roxboro Road NE.

A spokesperson with Norfolk Southern released the following statement:

"No matter the circumstances, any loss of life is a tragedy – our thoughts are with the family of this person during this difficult time. We would be remiss if we didn’t say that train tracks are simply no place for the public. Train tracks can be uniquely dangerous places that always beg extra care to ensure everyone’s safety."
