FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — A deadly crash involving a Georgia Department of Transportation vehicle and a motorcycle has shut down lanes on I-75 in Atlanta.

GDOT said their Highway Emergency Response Operators (HEROs) were working to clear debris in a travel lane when a motorcycle hit their truck. That crash has shut lanes on I-75 South at Northside Drive just before the Downtown Connector.

The department said the person driving the motorcycle died in the crash.

"We extend our thoughts and prayers to all those involved," GDOT said in a statement.

The Georgia State Patrol said it was conducting an active investigation at the crash scene. It's unclear how long the lane closures could last. Traffic cameras showed backup forming as far back as Collier Road.

How to get around it

The best way to get around the issues would be to get off at Howell Mill Road to travel south into Midtown. If you're farther back you could also get off at Moores Mill Road.
