It happened Wednesday morning.

ATLANTA — UPDATE 2 (12:20 p.m.): Lanes are mostly now back open, though with traffic still moving slowly into the Downtown Connector.

UPDATE (11:56 a.m.): All lanes are now blocked for the wreck, with a Georgia Dept. of Transportation HERO vehicle and ambulance now on scene. It's not clear if they're leaving open the I-85 north entrance to the left, or the I-75 south carpool lane that's to the left of that.

Original story below

Several lanes were blocked on Interstate 75 south heading into the Downtown Connector in Atlanta on Wednesday morning after a multi-car wreck.

It happened where I-75 south converges with I-85 south and where there is an exit on the left to go to I-85 north.

Traffic cameras appeared to show at least two to three vehicles had been involved. It was not immediately clear if there were injuries in the wreck.

One lane of traffic on the left - next to the exit for I-85 north - was open for cars to pass through.

It was not clear when the traffic situation might be clear. Traffic cameras did not yet show just before noon any tow vehicles on scene.

How to get around it

Backup was building as far back as the Northside Drive exit. Anyone traveling south on I-75 currently should exit there, if they can, or before that at Howell Mill Road.
