Traffic updates | Wet roads lead to multiple wrecks during morning commute

Avoid these areas on your morning commute.

ATLANTA — Heavy rains and severe thunderstorms are impacting roads across metro Atlanta and north Georgia Monday morning, creating quite the headache for drivers.

We could see localized flooding in some places, as well as slippery conditions that lead to wrecks.

8:52 a.m. | Watch out down in the farther south metro area, with lots of roads closed due to flooding and other issues after the worst of the storms this morning swept through that region.

8:50 a.m. | Traffic is moving again on I-75 South through Cumberland, after a large wreck there had multiple lanes closed for an extended period.

7:07 a.m. | All lanes of the downtown connector have now reopened.

7:00 a.m. | One lane has reopened on the the downtown connector.

6:40 a.m. | All lanes of the downtown connector are shut down near Cleveland Avenue.

At this time, GDOT doesn't know how many vehicles are involved; however, 11Alive has learned there are injuries.

6:00 a.m. | A multi-vehicle crash has created severe back-up after closing all lanes of I-20 westbound in DeKalb County Monday morning.
