Here's what we're seeing so far:

Metro Atlanta traffic incidents Monday, June 12

  • A crash on I-85 South, just south of where I-285 heads east near the airport, has a lane blocked. (Update: cleared)
  • A crash on I-75 North near Morrow, just before Old Dixie Road, has a lane blocked. (Update: cleared)
  • (UPDATE 6:45 a.m. Traffic now moving through again) (UPDATE 6:30 a.m.: They had begun to allow traffic through, but there appears to be a shutdown near the I-75/85 split still holding things up) What appears to be a series of crashes has shut down the Downtown Connector northbound around 6:20 a.m. It's not yet clear what the issues is, but traffic cameras show first responders on scene and several cars on the sides of the roads.
  • (UPDATE 6:20 a.m.: This has largely cleared now) One major one so far around 5:45 a.m. The I-75 South to I-85 North ramp is closed following a wreck. The sharp-turn ramp is notorious for traffic incidents as drivers take it too quickly. The incident is causing a slowdown on I-85 North coming out of Midtown, with the wreck occurring on the right hand side where the ramp shoots out onto I-85. The crash appears to have involved two vehicles, with no word yet on any possible injuries. A Georgia Department of Transportation alert stated: "There is a crash on I-75 SB exit to I-85 North with all lanes blocked. Motorists are urged to use an alternate route to avoid delays."

How to get around it: 11Alive Traffic Tracker Crash Clark recommends anyone looking to take I-75 back up I-85 to exit at 17th Street, take West Peachtree over to the Buford-Spring Connector, and then use that to get back on your way.
