CW's 'Black Lightning' will film scenes in Old Fourth Ward

Great news for production - but here's how it will impact traffic and your commute in the city!

ATLANTA — Atlanta is home to several film and television shows, including projects like CW’s superhero series “Black Lightning.”

The show kicked off production earlier this summer and continues work on its third season. Last week, we told you about a casting call for an upcoming funeral scene.

Now, residents in Atlanta’s Old Fourth Ward neighborhood have received notices for scenes being filmed in the area.

The shoots will take place over the course of three evenings beginning Tuesday, Oct. 1 until the 3.

“On these two dates we will film outside a private residence at 430 Parkway Drive NE. We will implement a road closure to thru traffic on Angier Ave NE between Parkway Drive NE and Felton Drive, and a closure on Parkway Drive NE between Wabash Dr and Pine St NE  from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. All residents will be able to access their driveways and parking pads,” the letter to businesses and neighbors from production managers state.

"Black Lightning" is based on the DC Comic by the same name.

The story is about a man who dressed as a superhero and acted as a vigilante in his younger days, but left it all behind him to become a family man and a school administrator. Then he finds himself getting dragged back into his old life.

Season 3 of “Black Lightning” premieres Monday Oct., 7, 2019!
